Menu bar app for Apple silicon MacBooks
LidLogic follows your MacBook's hinge. As you close the lid, the picture tilts back, softens toward the top and fades into black, then eases back the moment you stop.
Drag to close the lid, then hold still. The same math runs in the app.
What it does
How far the lid closes sets how far the picture leans. Halfway closed looks halfway folded.
Blur and fade build toward the top edge only. Everything near the keyboard stays crisp.
Stop moving and the screen eases back to normal. You choose the wait and the snap-back speed.
Detent ticks as the lid moves and a felt thud as it closes. Or glass pad, servo hum, marimba, or silence.
Under the hood
Hinge sensor updates, in whole degrees
Motion reconstructed in between
While the lid isn't moving
Dead zone that ignores sensor jitter
Measured on a MacBook Air (M4).

Questions
With the lid still, LidLogic uses about 1% CPU. During a transition it redraws the screen at 60 fps, only for as long as the lid moves.
macOS doesn't let apps bend other apps' windows. LidLogic captures the screen and draws a tilted copy on top while the lid moves. The capture stays in memory on your Mac and is never saved or uploaded.
Mostly not. The display turns on partway through opening, so the transition shows when you move the lid while the Mac is awake.
Yes. Motion and close sounds each have an Off option, plus a volume slider.

Use LidLogic on the Macs you personally own or use, and please don't redistribute the download. Provided as is, without warranty. It relies on undocumented macOS interfaces and may stop working after a macOS update.
The app collects no data. Screen capture stays in memory on your Mac. Orders are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record, which handles payment details and sales tax. This site uses no analytics or cookies; fonts load from Google Fonts.
